FAQ

What is therapy like?

In the first session I'll ask some background questions. After that, we can talk about anything you want. I'll be there to listen, ask questions, and help you look at things differently.

How do I know if I need therapy?

I will never tell you that you need therapy, but it might help to talk with someone if you’ve had any of these thoughts:

  • "I feel stuck"

  • "I've tried everything"

  • "I wish I could talk to someone who would understand"

Does therapy work?

In general, yes. Regardless of the therapist's credentials, experience, and technique, research shows that talking to a professional helps with lots of things, from general stress and anxiety to chronic pain.

I’ve had bad experiences in the past. Will this be different?

I'm sorry to hear that. I've had bad experiences in therapy too. The most important part of therapy is a trusting relationship. I may not be right for everyone, but we'll check in early and often to make sure you're feeling safe and getting what you need.

Do you accept private pay?

Yes, I accept private pay.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. I'm in-network with Medica, UnitedHealthCare, UBH, UMR, and Surest. Make sure to call your insurance company to make sure I'm in-network with your specific policy. If I'm out-of-network, I can provide a superbill for you to seek out-of-network reimbursement.

What is your fee?

My rate is $225 for the initial session and $175 for each session after that. If you’re using insurance, your out-of-pocket cost may be lower depending on your plan.
